Tucker Lodge No. 297 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons was consecrated and chartered by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas on the 14th June 1867, over 156 years ago.

Named after Phillip C. Tucker, Jr., who moved to Galveston in 1858 and was a Major in the Confederate Army during the Civil War in charge of the defense of Galveston Island. In his later life, he was President of the Galveston Historical Society and a prominent member of the Galveston Horticultural Society, introducing the Magnolia Fig to Texas.

Masonically, he served as Worshipful Master of Harmony Lodge No. 6 in Galveston, as Grand Master of Masons in Texas and formed the first Scottish Rite body in Texas. He later led the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite until his death in 1894.

Tucker Lodge No. 297 is heavily involved in our community. We support education through teacher recognition, scholarships and dedicating building cornerstones.  We support our community through veterans events, emergency responder recognition and community builder awards. We support other service organizations, such as the Salvation Army and Wreaths Across America and other Masonic and non-Masonic charities.

Vision

Our vision is to lead by example.  Centered on taking good men in the Galveston Community and making them better, we strive to be a welcoming, friendly,  and educational place to learn and practice Freemasonry.  We seek to continue engaging the island we call home through community service and fun activities. Because our membership is growing with new, younger members we continue to provide the associations that lead to life success with enthusiasm and commitment to our members.

One of the oldest organizations on Galveston Island, we look forward to making a continuing impact on our community for many years in the future.
